Kirkstead, St Leonard

Kirkstead, St Leonard (photo Ashley Taylor for Explore Churches)

Set in the middle of fields stands one of the finest pieces of 13th century architecture in Lincolnshire (according to Pevsner). A small church, probably built as a chantry chapel for Robert de Tattersall, grandson of the founder of Kirkstead Abbey. Both the wooden screen and the knight monument are amongst the oldest in England.

Opening times:
Sunday 1pm–4pm

Postcode: LN10 6UH
