Baumber is a Grade I listed church which dates from the 11th century onwards. Originally built of Lincolnshire greenstone with many additions and alterations over the centuries, namely complete re-cladding in brick (local) in 1758. Several interesting tombs, monuments and hatchings. Three bells of interest on the aisle floor.
This church is currently fundraising, here are the details from their Go Fund Me page:
Following the theft of lead from the roof in 2020 Ecclesiastical Insurance refused to pay for it's replacement and after extended negotiations it was decided to start repairs earlier this year. Architects and surveyors reports discovered serious deterioration of masonry and timbers that previous work had ignored and covered up. The original estimate has escalated to around £68,000. Once this essential work has been completed, refurbishment of the interior can begin to bring our church back to its former glory.
