Grimoldby, St Edith*

St Edith’s was consecrated in 1380 and its construction came towards the end of what is known as the ‘Decorated’ period and approximately 30 years later into the ‘Perpendicular’ period and is typical of this English style, built by 14th-century craftsmen. Externally decorated with over 20 gargoyles and grotesques, internally evidence of medieval wall paintings and Graffiti. The original threshing line sleeve and lower part of rood screen remains. St Edith’s has nine surviving medieval oak carved angels undergoing conservation, some of the completed angels will be displayed for public viewing.
