Stewton, St Andrew* |
The church of St Andrew’s
is a late Saxon/early Norman building.
It is in a lonely setting two miles east of Louth. It consists of a chancel, nave, vestry, west
porch and bellcote containing one bell.
The Norman chancel arch is a very early example, and a beautiful
neo-Norman wheel window is in the west end of the nave. A Saxon window cut from
a single piece of stone on the south side of the nave. Beautiful, peaceful and tranquil.
