Hatton, St Stephen

Hatton St Stephen, photo by Richard Croft*
A delightful 19th-century church on the site of a medieval church in a beautiful setting in a Wolds village.  Rounded apse contains three stained glass windows. Scroll naming rectors and patrons starting with Adam de Oteby in 1221.  The church was rebuilt in 1871 by James Fowler, using local red bricks with bands of the previous Spilsby greenstone to show how nothing was wasted. Historical display on celebrations through the ages.
