Grade II listed building, built in 1880s with Ancaster stone. Uniquely placed in centre of a roundabout thanks to the 9th Earl of Scarborough. The Earl donated the land for the church when he laid out his plans for the town. He wanted the church to be the focal point of the town and its spiritual centre. Stained-glass window, located in the south aisle depicting St Francis of Assisi, as well as the altar and riddle posts were designed by Sir Ninian Comper. The organ, built by Rushworth and Draper, is recognised as one of the best in the country.
