Ingoldmells, St Peter & St Paul


Early Norman Grade I listed with a peal of 8 bells acknowledged as one of the finest in Lincolnshire. The first service was held in 1205, but indications of a much older church. Traces of Viking and Anglo-Saxon settlements nearby. Evidence of a Roman garrison and salt works nearby. During WWII Butlins was HMS Royal Arthur. Church has a Royal Arthur chapel with a memorial stained-glass window, during the War HMS Royal Arthur was reported by the Germans as having been sunk!
