As recorded in the Domesday Book, there has been a church here on this site for over a thousand years. In its gentle Wolds setting, blessed with abundant woods and water, it has been the heart of Christian witness in the area through the centuries. The earliest parts of today’s stone-built church date to the 13th century; at that time it was only nave, south aisle and chancel, with the tower being added in the 15th century, and finally the Victorians carried out extensive refurbishments and introduced the north aisle, organ and vestry.
